Cartoons

In recent inspections, the Audit Commission has asked specific questions about how organisations communicate with people who have low literacy levels. The truth is numerous letters and surveys are mailed out with an assumption of literacy.

It got us thinking and we developed the idea of using cartoons as a response.

In Spring 2009, we are launching a cartoon serial called Simply Said for housing organisations to use in their quarterly newsletters.

The cartoon is based around a family on a housing estate. This is not going to be a Shameless type portrayal but the family will experience the challenges of living on a low income.

Our cartoonist, Liz, is creating cartoons for issues such as rent arrears, loan sharks, anti-social behaviour, gas safety, and healthy eating. If you have an idea for the cartoon, we would love to hear it.
